Funny Moments In Time For Christmas

Credit; here.

With Christmas quickly approaching, everyone's finishing work or school and selected others are chilling in the comforts of their homes, but to keep everyone in a good mood, I've chosen some of my favourite funny moments from the last few seasons.

Most you will recognise from the Premier League and I hope will bring back good memories, although the videos venture to the SPL, Bundesliga and the Champions League.

And we'll start with a light moment from 2005; a penalty miss which, ultimately, didn't cost Arsenal 3 points at home to Manchester City.

We all know what Pires was trying to do...

And next we head to Fratton Park, where it's the reporter, rather than the players, who has had a 'mare.

We grow to expect better, Chris Kamara!

Next is our first venture away form the English Premier League and to the SPL, where Celtic are preparing for their game.

They seem quite cool about it, but the ref has a shock up his sleeve. Well, not exactly.

It would be crazy to leave Chelsea captain, John Terry, out of this list, and his spot kick in the Champions League Final would have took the trophy back to London.

It's not that he misses, that's unfortunate, it's the principle that he slips and the importance of the kick which makes the selection find the list.

It would be harsh to include John Terry's miss and leave out the manager of the penalty shoot-out winners.

In September of 2008, Manchester United were playing Chelsea and the balloon was 1 bridge too far for Mike Phelan. Sir Alex Ferguson has never been so agitated on the bench.

Next, we're heading over to some unknown league, but that doesn't mean it's not as priceless as the other comedy moments on here.

The striker thinks he's scored the penalty, but the referee is determined to spend 2 minutes of his life re-awarding the penalty for selected infringements.

Does he score in the end?

One player I wouldn't like to miss off this thread would be former Arsenal centre-back Sol Campbell.

Campbell made 71 appearances for England's national team, but you wonder how England didn't win a trophy with tackles like this.

Take a bow son for the world's longest sliding tackle.

One position I have yet to pick on is the goalkeepers. We see enough clangers on DVD's over Christmas, so I won't use the normal examples, but rather will go one better with this embarrased goalkeeper hoping, and failing, to outshine former Paraguay keeper, Jose Luis Chilavert.

We all know that Gary Neville takes his football seriously.

And when former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel returned to face his former club for their near neighbours, he couldn't have expected a better response from his opposing captain.

Focus Gary, focus.

In the penultimate video, the selection moves away from professional football in general.

Instead, we head to this 'kids' game, where one player has been watching too much WWF late at night.

There are no excuses for this, but the FA handles grass-roots football and it's amusing thinking who he has picked this elbowing technique from.

The final clip comes from Liverpool's game with Chelsea, where Steven Gerrard is out-done by one of Chelsea's player escorts.

Not the best of starts to game preparation for the England vice captain, but funny nonetheless.

Don't forget, you can watch my list of the best top flight league goals from the UK this season here.
