Weekend Predictions

Each week, I will now post my predictions for the weekend, and see if i can get more right than BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson.

This week, the predictions below stand.

This week's predictionsScoreLawroEdward
Aston Villa v West Brom2-11-11-1
Bolton v Blackburn2-12-21-3
Everton v Wigan0-02-02-1
Fulham v Sunderland0-02-12-2
Man Utd v Arsenal1-13-1
Newcastle v Liverpool3-11-10-3
Stoke v Blackpool0-12-12-0
Tottenham v Chelsea1-1

1-10-0
West Ham v Man City1-30-20-3
Wolves v Birmingham1-02-11-1

I expect the big winners this weekend to be Manchester City, who travel to bottom placed West Ham. The Hammers have improved of late, whereas City have failed to hit the goals they are capable of. It may be about time they fired on all fronts and, despite the loss of Carlos Tevez to suspension, I think that Emmanuel Adebayor may get on the scoresheet on a 3-0 win.

Bottom at Christmas for West Ham? A distinct possibility.

In a weekend where there are no less than 4 local derbies, I expect the pick of them to be Bolton v Blackburn (1.30 Sunday.).

A lot has been said heading into Tottenham v Chelsea, but Chelsea are distinctly out of form at the moment and the two Midlands' derbies feature teams who are either out of form (Villa and Wolves) and two who are blossoming after poor starts to the season (West Brom and Birmingham). I expect neither to blossom with goals.

Midland derbies can be tasty affairs but after the cup game between Villa and Birmingham, these could be an anti-climax.

Blackburn against Bolton usually yields goals with the newly owned Venky's club winning both fixtures last season.

In fact, Bolton have only scored twice in the last four games between these sides.

Regardless, the Trotters go into Sunday's game in great form, sitting in 6th place and having lost only once in their last six.

Rovers, on the contrary, have lost their last two away games and have conceded 11 goals in the process; some number considering Blackburn's usual defensive solidity.

It should be an interesting game and certainly a Super Sunday on SkySports, with the Lancashire derby being followed by Spurs against Chelsea. Much better than the recent Sunday football I have been subject to.

Good luck to everyone's teams this weekend.

  1. Bolton to concede 3 to Blackburn?
Liverpool to score 3 at Newcastle?
Arsenal to score at Old Trafford?

What on earth are you smoking?!?!

And the less said about the pick of the games being Bolton vs Blackburn the better. I shall not be reading this blog again is a hurry.

  3. Villa 1 WBA 1
    Everton 2 Wigan 0
    Fulham 1 Sunderland 1
    Stoke City 2 Blackpool 0
West Ham 0 Citeh 1, Believe it will be a game effort by WHU, don't see the upset nor a thrashing. There will be Tevez again back at Upton Park, don't think City will give a thrashing like they did to Fulham.
Newcastle 1 Liverpool 2 Feel rather confident the Reds will get a victory and would against either Hughton or Pardew.
Bolton 2 Blackburn 2 Derbies like this tend to be draws.
Wolves 1 Birmingham 1 Ditto, but there was trouble at least week's game. Perhaps it will negatively effect Brum. 12 pointers WHU and Wolverhampton really need a result.
Spurs 1 CFC 3 Blues bounce back and play well.
Man Utd. 1 Arsenal 2 Just going for an upset and yes, I could be way off.

Good article on the managers, I read every word.

I'm relatively neutral but I don't find reason to criticise the blogger. We all tend to pick some games at least with the heart over the head.

Per Relegation, I won't get into that much on this thread, but it's been awhile since I've seen the majority of teams in such a tight pack. Maybe it's just me but the whole PL is rather wide open this year, from the top to bottom.
